THE FREE STATE NOORDERVELD
River IJ north east bank Amsterdam (contribution biennale 2009)

'The Free State of Amsterdam' is one of the exhibitions of the 4th International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam (IABR), 'Open City: Designing Coexistence'. Nine urban design offices were given a free hand to give their vision on the future metropolis of Amsterdam.
Urhahn Urban Design's vision focuses on the River IJ north east bank. With 'Experiments on the Noorderveld' Urhahn Urban Design launches a freedom struggle for Amsterdam North, aiming at the creation of a free state within the Free State, where inhabitants of North can do their thing, and where new collectivity will find (a) place.
A brochure of our our vision can be downloaded here (Dutch or English - pdf 4Mb).
